The 5 kW configuration provides enough capacity for a family of five and is supported by battery storage, solar monitoring and automatic generator backup.

- 18 x 275 watt Suntech solar panels
- Midnite Solar Classic charge controller
- 830 amp hours of deep cycle battery storage

- 8 kVA automatic backup generator

System Monitoring
The monitoring system allows the owners to see how much power the solar array is generating and how much energy remains available in the battery bank.
The display gives the household a clear view of current system performance, making it easier to understand energy use and battery capacity at any time.
Automatic Generator Backup
An 8 kVA generator is configured to start automatically if extended overcast weather reduces the available battery capacity.
The starting point is based on the remaining battery capacity and can be selected by the customer or recommended by the off grid system designer.
When the battery bank reaches the selected level, the charge controller signals the generator to start. Once the batteries are fully recharged, the generator stops automatically.
