Not every Queensland property has practical access to the main electricity grid. Developing a rural block, setting up a cabin retreat, converting a shed into a liveable space or building a tiny home can involve substantial grid connection costs, where connection is available at all.
This Logan Village project shows what a compact, professionally designed stand alone power system can achieve. The system provides reliable electricity to a property where mains power was not a practical option, without requiring the owners to compromise on everyday convenience.

The Logan Village Off Grid System
- Solar array 4 kW of Suntech solar panels
- Inverter charger 3 kW Victron inverter charger
- Battery storage 10 kWh of Pylontech lithium batteries
- System type Fully off grid stand alone power system
The system was sized for the property’s actual requirements rather than being unnecessarily oversized or reduced to cut costs.
This type of configuration can suit cabins, converted sheds, small workshops, granny flats and tiny homes across South East Queensland.
Suitable for Cabins, Sheds and Tiny Homes
Off grid solar is not limited to large homesteads or remote stations. Smaller stand alone power systems can provide a practical solution for a wide range of buildings and applications.
- Cabins on rural or lifestyle blocks
- Converted sheds used as workshops or offices
- Tiny homes and secondary dwellings
- Granny flats positioned away from the main house
- Small workshops requiring dependable power
The 4 kW solar array generates energy during the day, while the Victron inverter charger manages the system and the Pylontech battery bank stores unused energy for overnight and cloudy weather use.
Hassle Free Off Grid Living
A properly designed off grid system should operate quietly in the background. The owners can use lighting, kitchen appliances, laptops, phones and other everyday equipment without constantly managing the power supply.
The Victron inverter charger controls the flow of energy between the solar array, battery bank and connected loads.
It also communicates with the Pylontech batteries to manage charging and discharging, helping the system operate efficiently without regular intervention.

Suntech Solar Panels
The Logan Village system uses a 4 kW Suntech solar array to generate the property’s electricity during daylight hours.
The array was positioned to make use of Queensland’s available solar exposure throughout the year. During stronger summer conditions, it can supply the immediate property loads while directing surplus energy into the battery bank.
During shorter winter days, the solar array and battery storage work together to maintain reliable power overnight and into the following morning.

10 kWh Pylontech Battery Storage
The Pylontech lithium battery bank provides 10 kWh of storage for use after sunset and during periods of reduced solar production.
The batteries include an integrated battery management system that monitors and protects the individual cells during charging and discharge.
The battery capacity was selected to suit the expected daily use of a smaller dwelling or workspace while allowing the system to remain compact and practical.
The modular battery design also allows additional storage to be considered later if the property’s energy requirements increase.
When Grid Connection Is Not Practical
Rural and semi rural properties can face significant costs when the electricity network needs to be extended over a long distance. In some cases, the grid connection cost can exceed the cost of installing a complete stand alone power system.
For a new build, secondary dwelling, cabin or workshop, an off grid solar system can provide power without waiting for network infrastructure to reach the site.
The Logan Village system provides a practical solution for a property where mains electricity was not suitable, combining solar generation, battery storage and inverter capacity in one independent setup.
