Sunshine Coast Off Grid Solar System
The system is matched with a 5 kW solar array and a 5 kW inverter charger.
The battery bank has a capacity of 40 kWh, providing enough stored energy to run the home through several days of overcast weather.
A backup generator is configured to start automatically when extended poor weather prevents the solar array from restoring the battery bank.
Victron MultiPlus Inverter Charger
A Victron Energy MultiPlus 5 kW inverter charger was selected for this installation. The inverter supplies mains style power to the house while also acting as a charger when power is available from another source, such as the backup generator.
This allows the generator to recharge the battery bank when required. The Victron MultiPlus can also provide up to 10 kW of instantaneous power.
Battery Storage Designed for Renewable Energy
The battery bank uses Exide Energystore Gel batteries. These maintenance free batteries are designed specifically for renewable energy systems.
When correctly designed and managed, the battery bank can provide a long service life and reliable storage for the property’s everyday power needs.
Midnite Solar Charge Controller
The Midnite Solar Classic charger was selected for this off grid solar system because it provides a clear and easy to understand display of the system’s electrical performance.
